It's a "wool blend felt" according to the instruction booklet that came with it. It was actually enjoyable to make and not nearly as fiddly as it looked to me. The only part that was a bit of a chore was attaching the bottom and trying to cram the stuffing down as I went. But I would definitely make it again.
